FAQs

Why should I have my backflow device tested?
It's the law: Backflow assemblies must be tested annually.
Safety: Properly functioning Backflow assemblies prevent contamination of city drinking water. Backflow assemblies have internal mechanical parts that do wear out and can fail.
What happens if my backflow assembly does not pass the testing?
If we test your assembly and it fails, there is no charge for the initial service visit. Once your Backflow assembly is repaired, we will come back for re-testing and charge you at that time.
The most common causes of failure can be resolved with a simple cleaning. Backflow assemblies can also be repaired and internal parts can be replaced.
What happens during the backflow assembly test?
- Lawn irrigation testing is done outside (no need to enter your house or business).
- Water service is turned off at the Backflow assembly.
- Water will be off during the test - usually less than 20 minutes.
- Water service is fully restored at the end of the test.
When is the best time to have my Backflow assembly tested?
Testing can be done to meet you schedule needs.
Lawn irrigation backflow assemblies must be tested when the system is in operation. They cannot be tested when the water is off or after the system has been drained for winter.
